Until we settle your case or win your case in court, we will consistently pursue your pedestrian injury claim.

Pedestrian accident cases usually involve serious injuries.  This makes it even more important that you have an attorney on your side.  First, we’ll order the police report.  Next, we’ll contact the insurance company for the driver that hit you.  This insurance company much first pay all of your medical bills up to $10,000.  This is known as No-Fault Insurance or Personal Injury Protection (PIP).  Hawaii law requires that all cars and trucks have at least $10,000 in PIP coverage.  Unfortunately, Hawaii law doesn’t require that motorcycles carry this coverage.  This makes no sense because motorcycles can also cause very serious injuries to pedestrians.  This is a flaw in the law that needs to be corrected.

The insurance company for the vehicle that injured you must not only pay the first $10,000 in medical bills, but they must also compensate you for any medical bills over $10,000 as well as your pain and suffering and wage loss.  It’s critical that you have an experienced attorney on your side to make sure that you receive the maximum compensation that you deserve for your injuries and other damages.

We’ve helped countless people in Hawaii who have been injured as pedestrians, and we would be happy to help you as well.

Please call today for a free consultation. We will give you an honest evaluation of your case.  We never charge any attorney fees until we win your Honolulu pedestrian injury case.

We understand that when you’ve been injured in a car accident, it can be difficult to get around.  This is why we offer our online contract signing service.  We’ll email you an online contract and an online intake form.  Once we receive the completed intake form and signed contract, we can move forward on your case without you having to come to our office or without the hassle of arranging a time and place for us to me.

Many studies have shown that Hawaii is one of the most dangerous states in the country for pedestrians.  Pedestrians are injured and killed in Hawaii at a much higher rate than in nearly every other state.  Many claims that this does not mean that drivers in Hawaii are any worse than drivers in other states.  They argue that it is because the year-round nice weather results in pedestrians walking around all year and thus being at a greater risk of being injured.  This makes sense, for example, comparing Honolulu to Boston, where the four months of terrible winter in Boston make it very difficult for pedestrians to walk around.  Others argue that Hawaii’s high rate of pedestrian injuries is due to Hawaii’s aging population.  After all, Hawaii does have the longest life expectancy of any other state.  This results in many more elderly people walking the streets of Honolulu.  Regardless of the reason why Honolulu has one of the highest pedestrian injury rates, we think that there is a lot that can be done to protect the pedestrians of Honolulu and every other city in Hawaii from injuries due to motor vehicle collisions.

After many years of representing pedestrians injured in auto collisions in Honolulu, we have found that in nearly every case, the pedestrian injury could have been avoided if the driver of the motor vehicle had simply paid better attention to pedestrians.  Unfortunately, many drivers in Honolulu and throughout Hawaii tend to worry only about avoiding accidents with other vehicles and do not pay attention to pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists, or moped riders.

We have also found that our pedestrian injury clients tend to receive much greater injuries than our clients who were in a car.  Major injuries tend to result in much larger settlements; however, no matter how large the settlement we are able to obtain for our injured clients, they will be forever changed by the tragic experience of being hit by a car.

There are way too many accidents in Hawaii involving pedestrians.  There have been many news articles pointing out how much more dangerous it is in Hawaii for pedestrians compared to other states.  This may have something to do with the fact that Hawaii has good year-round weather, which encourages the people here to spend more time walking around outdoors.  It may have something to do with the fact that our state has the nation’s longest life expectancy.  In other words, there are many more elderly people in Hawaii walking around as pedestrians.  It does seem like many of the pedestrian accidents that we read about in the news involve an elderly person.  Perhaps drivers are not patient enough to wait for an elderly person to slowly cross the road.  No matter why Hawaii has more accidents than other states, we really have to do everything we can to confront this serious issue.

Unfortunately, many accidents are due to pedestrians not following traffic laws.  There is no doubt that pedestrians should do a better job of obeying traffic laws; however, drivers must also do a better job of looking out for people even if they are not following the law.  Drivers are in a position to cause serious injury or death to a pedestrian; therefore, drivers of motor vehicles must do everything they can to avoid causing injury to a pedestrian.  Many of the clients that we have helped over the years were injured due to the fact that the driver simply didn’t see them.  Drivers must take more seriously their responsibility to not only watch out for other vehicles but also to watch out for pedestrians, including bicycles and motorcycles.

If you have been injured in an accident in Honolulu, Oahu, or anywhere else throughout the State of Hawaii, you should not delay calling us to make sure that your rights are protected.  You should call us as soon as possible.  Don’t wait for the insurance company adjusters to start calling or for medical bills to start coming in the mail.  The time right after the accident is a critical time for us to make sure that your rights are protected so that we can get you the maximum compensation that you deserve for your injuries.  If you aren’t able to come to our office, we can email you the intake form and contract to complete online.

We do everything we can to make this process as convenient for you as possible.  We understand that when you are injured in an accident, your life will feel chaotic, and you may feel confused and not know how to proceed.  Let us take this great burden off of you.  We’ll order the police report and contact the insurance companies for you.  We’ll be on the phone with you when you provide recorded statements to the insurance companies.  We’ll answer all the questions you will have.  We’ll make sure that the No-Fault Insurance Company begins paying your emergency bills right away.  We’ll continue to support you throughout the process, no matter how long it takes until you are ready to settle your pedestrian injury claim for the maximum amount that you deserve for your injuries, pain and suffering, medical bills, wage loss, and any other damages that you have incurred due to the accident.

If for some reason, the insurance company isn’t offering a settlement amount that fairly compensates you for your injuries, we will take them to court in order to make them do the right thing.  We have many years of experience with the Court system in Hawaii.  We have helped many clients through the civil litigation process.  This process will include arbitration, depositions, settlement conferences, and maybe even a jury trial.  We will be by your side throughout this stressful process to fight for your rights and to ensure that you receive what you are entitled to.  A settlement is certainly the quicker, easier way to get you compensation for your accident injuries; however, if we aren’t able to get you a fair settlement, we will take the case all the way to trial so that a jury can award you the financial compensation that you deserve.

Hawaii is such a beautiful place to live with so many wonderful and kind people; however, if we could somehow get all vehicle drivers in Honolulu and throughout the Hawaiian Islands, to pay more careful attention to pedestrians, Hawaii would be much closer to being the paradise that it is meant to be.
